Why Am I SAD During The Winter?

Do you go through short periods of depression every winter? Do you start to feel down or not like your usual self when the days get shorter? If so, you could have seasonal affective disorder (SAD).

SAD is a common type of depression that’s related to changes in the season. SAD can occur in spring and summer but is most common in the fall or early winter.

Symptoms of winter-onset SAD may include:

  • Oversleeping
  • Lack of energy
  • Increased appetite
  • Weight gain
  • Feeling sad, hopeless
