What is Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)?

The gonads (a man’s testicles and a woman’s ovaries) create the androgen testosterone. The adrenal glands also produce testosterone, albeit in very small amounts. Although testosterone exists in both sexes, males generate far higher quantities of the hormone than women do.

Low testosterone levels in men are associated with decreased libido, lethargy, and weight gain and may be the consequence of age or medical issues. Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is a therapeutic option for bringing testosterone levels back up to normal. Daniel Kim, M.D., a board-certified family physician at the Medical Offices of Manhattan in New York, talks about the potential side effects, advantages, and future of TRT here. Read the article.
