Medical Offices of Manhattan’s own Board Certified Internal Medicine physician, Denise Pate, M.D., was interviewed on The Wendy Williams Show to discuss some insight about the auto-immune disorder, Grave’s disease, and how it might affect Wendy’s health.
She’s quoted as saying:
“Graves’ disease is an auto-immune disorder that causes overproduction of thyroid hormone leading to hyperthyroidism. It is caused by an antibody called thyrotropin receptor antibody (TRAb) binding to thyroid cell receptors resulting in the increased release of thyroid hormones and thyroid growth that can alter our body’s function,” Dr. Pate — who does not treat Wendy — explained to Life & Style. “Some of the common symptoms associated with Graves’ disease are palpitations, tachycardia, hand tremors, weight loss, muscle weakness, fatigue, erectile dysfunction [for men], and irregular menstrual cycles [for women].”
