This glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist is the active element in the majority of weight-loss injectable therapies, many of which have become household names thanks to several celebrities spreading the word that it helped them lose weight.
The United States Food and Drug Administration has authorized medications containing semaglutide to treat Type 2 diabetes and facilitate weight reduction and control.
