Do ice baths work for recovery?

Maybe you’ve seen fitness influencers or athletes post ice baths on social media, or maybe you’ve given it a go for yourself. There are a lot of health advantages to having an ice bath, such as a quicker recovery, a higher metabolism, and less stress. But are they effective in practice?

Premeditated immersion in frigid water is known as an ice bath. It might be ice-cold water or a body of water that is naturally frigid at certain times of the year. It may be referred to as a chilly dive in the second case. Some even go to extreme lengths, like ringing in the new year with a chilly shock or participating in charity frigid plunges, like the Polar Bear Plunge.
