The American Red Cross is reporting that blood donations have been low, causing a shortage of about 61,000 donations or the equivalent of more than four days without donations. This situation has been classified as critical and they are requesting emergency donations of all blood types.
Every donation of blood and platelets can help save lives. Giving blood is relatively painless and you’ll feel great knowing that you are contributing. You’ll likely never stop to think about how important it is to have your blood type available until you, or someone close to you desperately needs it.
