Rapid COVID Test
If you have traveled to a designated Covid-19 “hot spot” state in the last 14 days we may have to schedule a virtual appointment and allow our providers to advise you on the next steps of care before presenting to the office. In most cases, our office will still require you to fulfill the 14 day quarantine period from arrival in the NYC area before coming in. The safety of all of our patients and staff is and always will be our top priority.
REMINDER: If you are high risk or symptomatic, you will be subject to a virtual appointment and we encourage you to book an appointment for COVID Testing to rule out COVID-19 (need to return to work or school, want to visit relatives but want to rule out to have COVID as an asymptomatic carrier, need for travel).
Note: Medical Offices of Manhattan does not test or treat anyone under 18 years of age; This includes all COVID Tests.
Please note – we have been provided feedback that for certain travel a PCR test result is required within 72 hours. Our PCR test result comes back in 2-3 days and our Rapid COVID Antigen test is not PCR. Please check any travel requirements prior to scheduling to avoid any confusion.
A new mandate from the New York State Department of Health requires screening all patients for COVID-19 prior to colonoscopy/endoscopy or other elective medical procedures. In order to provide the safest environment for all of our patients, Medical Offices of Manhattan is expanding COVID-19 testing capability to offer rapid antigen testing for the novel coronavirus. In a time when testing laboratories are dealing with a backlog of COVID tests causing patients to wait days for delayed results, this FDA-approved throat and nasal swabs will return a positive or negative test on the same day.

What Can You Expect From A Rapid COVID Test?
The rapid COVID test is administered at the point of care by throat or nasal swab by a medical assistant or primary care provider. The rapid antigen test can return results showing whether the patient is infected with acute COVID-19 the same day, as opposed to the 3-5 day estimated wait for most nasal swab tests.
What Test or Protocol Do You Use for the Rapid COVID-19 Test?
The Medical Offices of Manhattan uses the Sofia SARS Antigen Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA) for the rapid COVID-19 test. This is a state-of-the-art technology to detect nucleocapsid proteins indicating the presence of SARS-CoV-2. This quick, simple, and easy-to-use test provides objective results for the utmost possible accuracy.
What Can I Learn From A COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test?
The rapid COVID test reveals only whether the COVID-19 virus is currently present. It does not test whether or not the patient has previously been infected by COVID-19, or whether any other viruses are currently present. The test does not react to the presence of any other seasonal coronaviruses.
Do You Offer Other COVID-Related Testing?
Besides the rapid covid test MOM also currently offers nasal swab testing for COVID-19, as well as antibody testing to determine whether you have been infected with the coronavirus in the past. We have instituted all procedural changes recommended by the CDC to ensure that all of our patients’ safety is protected in every way possible when they come into our offices for appointments while the pandemic is ongoing. Visit our website to learn more about the COVID-related safety measures we have put in place.
What does the Rapid COVID Test Cost?
The FDA-approved Rapid COVID test cost is a self-pay of $85. All of our tests are required to be done through a consultation with one of our providers. The cost does not include the doctor consultation, which is covered by most insurance carriers. Currently, we are able to provide our patients with a bill that you can submit to your carrier for reimbursement.
