The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the first glucose monitoring device made just for weight management this week. It was made by the California-based start-up Signos. The device has a Dexcom glucose biosensor that tracks blood glucose levels around the clock to show how eating, exercise, and sleep might affect glucose levels. This product works with an AI platform to turn real-time data into specific weight management tips based on your lifestyle.
Dr. Paunel Vukasinov, an internist and obesity medicine expert at Medical Offices of Manhattan, observed that a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) can assist patients in understanding how food affects their glucose levels. He stated, “Many patients change what they eat after seeing how certain foods affect their glucose,” and many claim the technology helps them make better decisions overall.
“For people without glucose issues, CGMs may add little benefit beyond what general healthy eating advice provides,” he noted. A qualified medical expert should always review the results “to ensure the best possible outcome.” Read the article.
