Bhavna Suri, MD is a cardiologist who specializes in cardiovascular disease medicine, coronary procedures, ultrasound echo and nuclear stress test interpretation. She is board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology.
Dr. Suri completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School after graduating from medical school at Madras Medical College, India. She subsequently did a fellowship in heart failure and cardiac transplant at Columbia University Medical Center-NY Presbyterian Hospital. She completed her fellowship in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at NYU Long Island School of Medicine.
Dr. Suri believes that it is her paramount duty as a cardiologist to help patients understand their medical diagnosis and demystify complex medical terminology. Comprehension of medical conditions and treatment goals, empowers patients to adopt healthy lifestyle changes, treatment plans and improve long term compliance. As taking care of one’s health starts when one is feeling well, not when one is sick, Dr. Suri credits stress-reducing activities like regular exercise and consuming a balanced diet, more than any medical prescription or hospital procedure. However, she urges patients to seek early preventative care to help identify and treat medical conditions with the help of one’s cardiologist. Diagnosing, managing, and having a long-term partnership with the patient based on their unique needs, leads to effective solutions, which is the most challenging and rewarding part of Dr. Suri’s job.
In her spare time, Dr. Suri enjoys yoga, running and watching soccer with her family.
