metabolic syndrome worsens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute states that there is an increased risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, and stroke associated with a cluster of symptoms known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhlbi.nih.gov\/health\/metabolic-syndrome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">metabolic syndrome<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metabolic syndrome is the presence of three or more of these symptoms:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Abdominal obesity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High blood pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High blood sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High blood triglycerides<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low HDL (often referred to as \u201cgood\u201d cholesterol)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a
