There is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of our neck that controls our metabolism and many other body processes. Knowing the basics can help you see how important it is to keep your health in good shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does the thyroid do?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can think of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thyroid.org\/patient-thyroid-information\/ct-for-patients\/january-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">thyroid gland<\/a> as the engine of your body. It makes thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which are hormones that control how fast or slow your body works.
